Our Story
Governed by a board of women who are a host of different stories and intersectionalities, The Legacy & Luxury Academy was founded to promote health, wealth, and economic justice for all women who are mothers despite their marital status.
Rooted in the belief that opportunities are not only for the privy but those that seek them passionately and win, our organization is committed to creating pathways for single mothers to experience effortless living, abundance, and stability for generations to come.
Her Story
In 2013 I had the greatest need. That need was stability. I had a fairly easy education, overflowing with resources, but lacked the grit to sustain them.
Then I became a single mother. The expectation was for me to drop out of college, get any paying job, and lead a safe life. Instead I continued in university, struggling, mildly supported, yet optimistic. In turn, I’d go on to own property and start a business. The people I’d meet in undergrad would become family. Those met in graduate study, life long friends.
I’d show up over-dressed, over educated, to every school drop off and pick up. Help rehearse Christmas concert lines and read stories at bedtime. I’d manage boardrooms with my kindergartener and juice boxes in tow. Even with all the success, society still had no idea how to place me. I managed to be a single, Black, mother who unlocked some type of socioeconomic cheat code. One that seemingly had too much dignity.
Unsatisfied with being the only, I wanted other single mothers to experience true liberty. Life without resistance or government assistance. Education is what I know best, and has proven to be what changed the legacy for my family. This was the birth of The Legacy & Luxury Academy. After all, designing workforce development programs was the reason I became a PMP.
Grateful for the journey,
